    Melting Vaseline

I was making some lip balm that requires the use of Vaseline and beeswax. After figuring out neither was melting I added a little vegetable oil and they melted fine. Is there some trick to melting Vaseline I don't know about?

    melt and pour baby soaps

I tried searching for these topics so if I am reposting I apologize in advance. I've got a lot of melt and pour bases and would welcome suggestions on baby soaps. I know not to use the honey bases and finally got it through my thick skull not to color them. I read on this forum that essential...

    Layering issue

I took a stab at making layered soaps in my silicone loaf pan last night. I poured the first layer and let it set for about 45 minutes. I colored the second layer and poured it on top of the first and let them set overnight. This morning I went to cut them and the layers fell apart!! :shock...

Hope this isn't a dumb question

I purchased a bottle of candle fragrance from Michaels thinking for some reason I could use it in soaping!(Duh). It is a citrus type I believe. Now that I know I should stick to EOs as I can afford them :-) and FOs from established soaping sources I glare at that bottle daily but can't bring...

    etsy shipping help!!

I had an almost customer to buy some soap from me but when she put it in the cart the shipping costs were more than the soap itself. I thought it just charged $5 shipping flat. How do you all on etsy set your shipping profiles?? Could anyone post an example? I am glad she told me so I can fix...

    Hemp base

I got some hemp soap base and now am curious what other melt and pour soapers do with it. Use it like regular or it is better with certain scents and additives?

    Powdered colors

I have purchased a few oxides to color soaps and lip balms with. They color things great but cleanup afterwards is a hassle. Liquid may fade but it is easier to clean. What is a good way to clean up soap and balm dishes after mixing powdered colors with soap bases and other products?

    Finally did it

I've been in an experimenting test batch mood lately. Last night I made some melt and pour with a goat's milk base, clove bud, sweet orange, tangerine and lemon essential oils. I added them twice to make sure it took then I added some orange peel and red, yellow and peach liquid coloring. I...

    Shower Gel Fail

I ordered some shower gel base from Sweetcakes a while back plus some Polysorbate 20 in order to attempt to duplicate the Honey Lemon shower gel from L'Occitane they discontinued. I added the yellow liquid dye that made a beautiful bright shade. Then I added the Polysorbate 20, lemon EO and...

    I stitch!

I do cross stitch both chunky and regular and needlepoint when not soaping. I am also working on what I affectionately call Ugly Rugs. If they turn out nice I will hang them on the wall. If not they're going to be slapped with rug backing and on the floor they go. I pick out a yarn, buy some...

    About To Jump Into CP

I am slowly assembling supplies and materials to jump into CP! I got a stick blender and gloves. :-) I know I need to follow directions, treat the lye solution with respect and pay attention to temperatures. I was afraid of lye for the longest but I know I need to get over it.... Owing to having...

    Broken Star Anise

I got some broken star anise pieces from Penzey's last week. I want to use them in my melt and pour projects. Thank God I checked and have been talked out of using my anise extract in the kitchen! Now to be patient and get my hands on some anise essential or fragrance oil depending on...
