    How big a recipe?

I think I can manage on top of the entertainment center, it's really tall, thanks!

    How big a recipe?

I have one more question, not so much related to the topic title... Where's a good place to cure my soap? I'm in a small apartment, I don't have any unused rooms or lots of free space. I'm concerned with cat hair & dust if I just leave it sitting out in open air for a month or two. Can I put...

    How big a recipe?

Thank you both for the starting guideline! I have been obsessed with knitting for the past several years, so much so that I'd completely stopped soaping. I'm buying a 1/4 beef from my sister & brother-in-law, including a lot of tallow, so I thought I'd put it to good use. I'm not going to get...

    How big a recipe?

It's been years and years since I made soap, having to get new supplies because I got rid of mine long ago. If I get two of these silicone molds on Amazon, how much weight of oils should I start with? I don't want to have leftovers that I'm trying to find a receptacle for! They are described...

    Bigger lotion batches?

You shouldn't bottle anything before it's completely cooled. Otherwise you are likely to get condensation inside the container. That is a perfect way to grow mold. Any antifungal preservative you are using isn't going to protect the condensation water from mold spores, only the emulsified...

Trying to liquify my dish detergent

Why would you try to liquefy bar soap? Just make your recipe with potassium hydroxide (run through a calculator for lye & water quantities) Edit: or just add your dry soap flakes under the running tap water.

    Soap for Acne ?

Do be advised not to market the soap as having anything to do with treatment or prevention of acne, or it will be classed and regulated as a drug.

Baked Goods / Sweet FO Recs

Thanks IrishLass. I did try it, and liked 5:1, Milk Sugar Kisses : Oatmeal Milk & Honey. I'll probably try that in my next shampoo! ETA: Even better, I liked 20:4:1, Milk Sugar Kisses : Oatmeal Milk & Honey : Apple Jack & Peel. It added just a teensy bit of sweetness.

Baked Goods / Sweet FO Recs

Long overdue - here's what I thought of my purchases: Daystar Milk Sugar Kisses Liked it. Sweet, milky, almost buttery. I will definitely blend this one with something else. Buttermilk & Honey Eh. Doesn't really smell like buttermilk or honey. I will probably use this at a very...

    Shape molds

Interesting to know, thanks! I might have to try it sometime. I particularly like the oval shapes. I just never use bar soap, but I suppose I could give it a go.

    Shape molds

Please excuse my ignorance - I have only ever made liquid soap, not bar. Can you put soap into a "shape" mold, or are those only for M&P? I'm guessing not CP, what about HP?

I just want to make my transparent dish soap thicker.

You can't just cook off (evaporate) some of the water?

    Scenting liquid soap

If you wait until the soap is cool to add fragrance, yes, it will cloud. You need to add it warm, after dilution. Eta: thanks for the note about lemongrass. I'm kind of on a lemongrass kick right now. My laundry balls, all-purpose cleaner, and room spray are all lemongrass scented right now.

    Brand name soap and labels

I'd like to know if it is allowed to label a product "dish soap" or "hand soap", or is that going too far?

    Brand name soap and labels

Here is a post from someone on another board (regarding a post about a different well-known brand of soap): "...my understanding is that as long as you don't mention that your soap has some beneficial quality, i. e., good for acne, etc., it is not considered a "cosmetic", it is "soap", and...

Digital scale for small & large batches

I make liquid soap, not bar. Anything made with water needs a preservative. But the .5 gram amount applies more for lotions.

Digital scale for small & large batches

I'm afraid I'm going to have to get 2. My boyfriend gave me his which measures with 1 gram accuracy (but it shows ounces as fractions rather than decimals, which I don't like), so I guess I'll have to get a second one just for the smaller stuff.

Baked Goods / Sweet FO Recs

I'm looking for some of your top favorite FO's that smell liked baked goods, sweets, spices, etc. I don't generally like floral/herbal/earthy scents. Some I've seen on here that I'd like to try are: Peak Wild Mountain Honey Cranberry Apple Marmalade Pink Sugar Bramble Berry Oatmeal...

Digital scale for small & large batches

The large batches would be soaps, the 100g test batches would be for things like lotion, body products, etc. That comes out to 3.5 ounces, which is a good test size. I would have to make a ~ 7 oz batch (200g) to ensure that my .5% preservative would be accurate (at 1 gram, and even then...
