    Wooden loaf molds are expensive...

The slider idea is terrific. Well done. It would be really cool if you could mark where the 1lb, 2lb, etc. placement would be. Excellent product.

    Crossing my fingers

This didn't work as well as I'd hoped. It still gelled but only partially. On the other hand, the top is smooth. Live and learn.

    Crossing my fingers

Based on advice from the forum I just popped a batch of my coconut oil RTCP soap in the freezer. I also decided to try oatmeal and molasses in this recipe. Does anyone else find themselves giddy while waiting for a new experiment to finish?

Questions about master batch and room temp CP

All very interesting information! For one thing, I am completely impressed with the information I received about plastics and how to check the recycle code. That saved me hours of scratching my head. I also saved money because I did not buy the rubbermaid bottles like I was going to -- I just...

Questions about master batch and room temp CP

Thank you for any help you can provide. P I want to make a master batch of lye. I have searched past posts and get the concepts, but I am not certain about which containers I should use. Is any Plastic container ok or does it have to have certain properties? I am thinking of buying Rubbermaid...

    FDA & business info

Hello. I'm not planning on selling for a long time -- I complete buy into the minimum of one year of making it first. (For me, maybe longer!) In the meantime, though, I decided to start moving the administrative side of things along. I'm consulting our state university, which offers free advice...

tips on landing a job in a different state

Hope it's going well I've been involved in dozens of employee searches in education administration. I hope it's going well for you and that this post isn't needed -- meaning, I hope you found a job already!!! For what it's worth, my two cents: People who talk about themselves as a whole...

    White bar...

Ok....good stuff to know Ok, this is all really great information, and much appreciated!! I just looked at the olive oil that I was calling "light." It's labeled "Extra light tasting olive oil," and it does look lighter in the bottle than the "Extra virgin" that I have. The soap I made a...

    White bar...

Hello...I am in the experimental phase of this hobby, so I started buying cheaper oil. The last two batches, I used soybean oil for the primary oil. This will dry as a nice white bar (I might be a little off by one or two ounces): 26 oz soybean 12 oz coconut 10 oz light olive

I am so confused about CP vs HP

The more I learn, the less I know.......geez. I feel embarrassed asking this question, but what is the difference between CP and HP??? If I heat up my mix, then it traces and hardens more quickly. It needs to get glopped into the mold, but I can see how that would be ideal for those pretty...

Just some newbie notes on milk/honey/oatmeal bar

Oops forgot another point I had read that milk/honey should not be insulated because they scorch. I put part of the batch into a log mold, and insulated that. It was REALLY hot when I checked on it, and that was starting to make the urine smell. Just to experiment, I had also put about...

    Opinions please: CP vs HP

Crock pots I bought a 4-qt at Ace Hardware for $10 on sale a few weeks ago. I love that store for soap supplies -- it's got Roto brand lye crystals, scales, crocks, etc.

    Probably a dumb question...

I saw an FO line at Walmart, and I wonder if it's ok to use in soaps. It's in the candle / incense section, and the brand is "Naturals." Is this the same kind of FO as can be used in soaps? Sorry if I'm being completely dense.
