    Shea nut oil

I bought a 16oz bottle of shea nut oil from a local health food store because I figured I could find a use for it in something (either soap or bath/body products) but I haven't really come across anything online about it Has anyone used it in anything, or familiar enough with it to recommend...

Getting back into the groove of making soap again, a few questions

Oh, has anyone ever worked with shea nut oil? I have a bottle of it but absolutely no clue what it would work best with (soap, lotions, body butter, etc)

Getting back into the groove of making soap again, a few questions

Awesome, thanks guys! The oils smells completely fine, but I've heard others say that you should only ever use the freshest of the fresh oils, but I never saw a major difference between soaps years ago when I used a mix of old and new. I'm really happy about the boxes too. I have a ton of...

Getting back into the groove of making soap again, a few questions

It's been several years since I've made CP soap. I got distracted by other crafts but since I've been working with oils and butters making lotions, balms, etc I have amassed a lot of the supplies needed for CP soap again. I have a couple questions before I start making more batches though...

    Dyes

Oddly enough, I've only had issues with wicks being too large rather than too small. I've had to continuously downsize, despite having the recommended sized wick for the containers I use. I had completely forgotten about this post. I've still kept making candles, began using soy 464 but didn't...

    Dyes

Thank you. This is Joy wax: http://www.naturesgardencandles.com/can ... -SLAB.html I used a pound of their Joy wax, hemp wicks, and 1oz of their Misbehavin' scent of fragrance oil and the candles came out absolutely perfect. I couldn't be happier and I think making candles is going to be a...

    Dyes

I recently bought about 10lbs of Joy Wax from NG. Since I'm new to candle making, I figured I wouldn't bother getting fancy and would skip buying dyes. I have a ton of NG fragrance oils left from when I would make soap so I have a bunch of those on hand. When I had bought soap supplies, I...

    Bars into liquid?

So I dabbled in CP soap a little while and it was fun. I had some batches that turned out really nice. The only problem is that I don't know what to do with it all, as we don't typically use bars of soap in my house. I wouldn't feel right/safe selling off the first couple batches of soap I...

    Mold lining

The election poster idea is a pretty good one. Maybe I'll just use the plastic bags for batches where looks aren't as important. I was just wondering if they'd hold up

    Mold lining

So i finally got myself a REAL wooden soap mold, from the wonderful man at soap-making-resource.com However, I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck or was unlucky with using plastic shopping bags as mold liners? I really hate cutting and measuring freezer paper, so I'm wondering if this...

    Your NG Favorite

I just made a couple soaps tonight using some of my new NG scents in MP soap. Tropical bast - AMAZING! NG Delicious type - smells almost identical to DKNY Be Delicious Fresh brewed coffee (original) - My house smells like my coffee pot got into a fight with a skunk. Very strong scent OOB...

    Sunset kiss

The mold I used there was made by Life Of The Party (soapplace.com) and they distribute to a couple of larger national craft stores and you can find some of the molds online as well.

    Perfume Bottles? Where to buy?

I came across this site and it made me want to start making my own perfumes. These seem like very reasonable prices to me, and a wide assortment as well. http://www.bestbottles.com/

    Small batch for newbie...

I personally wouldn't use the same crockpot. Check out Goodwill, Salvation Army, Volunteers of America, or even just garage sales to find a 2nd crockpot for cheap. I got my stick blender that I use for soaping for $1 at a garage sale.. best find ever.

    Horny Toad and Crystal

The toad looks absolutely amazing. I love the gem too, I don't really mind the bubbles in it. If they were uniform throughout they might almost look sparkly. I can see teen girls loving that shape

    Sunset kiss

My grandmother is the sort who LOVES soaps that look like the oval ones. She won't even use soaps like that.. she just keeps them out for display! Luckily the octagon shaped ones aren't too 'dainty' looking for most people. The best part about that mold is that it cost me all of $2, so I have...

    New FO's arrived! Combinations?

I haven't had any trouble with the FO's from the craft store in CP soaps yet, not even a bit of discoloration either. I assume you mean the red velvet cake.. it smells absolutely delicious. Not exactly red velvet, but definitely a cake with frosting. Very very strong. It has a 9.4% vanillin...

What to mix micas and oxides in?

I would, but I make very small batches of MP at a time, maybe 4-6 bars at a time, mostly because I'm just trying out different colors and scents

    Sunset kiss

I tried out a new mold today with a new scent combo (Mardi Gras and sunflower) and I think it turned out really well. The mold isn't really my "style", I more or less got it for others who like a more dainty looking soap. The picture doesn't do the soap justice on it's color. The colors look far...
