Well I use soapcalc and it uses .5 oz per pound so 2 lbs I used one oz but it still seems too mild to me but that's just my opinion. Where I purchased it was bulk apothecary. Unless you are saying BA might have a different suggested usage rate

I made a 2lb batch of soap yesterday and the fragrance seems to be more mild than what I want (sandalwood). I used 1 oz of oil. Should I increase it, or keep where its at and if so, by how much. I don't want to add too much and cause someone skin irritation problems

Now I have a question regarding lard, could that also be substituted for shortening (crisco) or would that not be advisable at 50%. I've thought about lard but as much as possible i m not sure how my potential customers would react to me using lard. I'm willing to try it by any means

I see everyone talking about Mica, if Im thinking right, mica is a mineral, might me a dumb question but I'm a newb to the whole CP soap making but what does mica do in soap or to our skin

Well I went to soapcal.net. Used calculations for 3lbs of oils, 5% superfat, that's how I came to those formulations. Hopefully I gave you the info you are looking for

So I made my first loaf of CP soap today. All in all I think the first step came out OK. I managed to get it in my home made wood soap mold without spilling it everywhere. I think I may have over mixed it a tad. I have a few adjustments to make next time like using Castor oil and more fragrance...
