    CP beer soap confusion

I have made beer soap twice now and I have just let the beer sit out for about 4 days, some does evaporate. Then after it has gone flat I freeze about half of it so then when you do add the lye to the beer it does not burn the beer. I have scented one batch of soap and the other I have not...

    Thrift Store Score!

Baking cocoa I use to help color my soap a brown color. After my soap has a light trace I just add a little baking cocoa and then mix it. I have also tried coffee soap and I have just brewed a really strong pot of coffee, froze it in ice cube trays and then used it later to add with my lye...

    CPOP with silicone mold

I add the lye to the oils at about 106 degrees and the oven is preheated at 170 degrees and leave the soap in there for an hour at 170 degrees and then after that hour I turn the oven off and leave soap in there until the next day which is about 24 hours.

    CPOP with silicone mold

Is there any reason why doing the CPOP method and using a silicone mold causes bubbles on the soap? Any way to prevent that? I love using the CPOP method but the dredded bubbles on the parts that touch the silicone mold are so annoying.

    Rendering Suet

Do you have to do anything special with the rendered tallow after it is melted if you use water or just strain it through cheesecloth like usual?
  16. L

    Rendering Suet

Oh, and I know a lot of people say to mix it and check on it throughout the melting process. I started to melt a pound of suet last night but I had to get to bed and unfortunately it was not melted and I did not want to leave the crockpot on all night without being able to watch the crockpot...

    Suet same as rendered tallow?

First post here, I have made several batches of soap over the last several months. I have been interested in making a batch of soap that incorporates beef fat. I was at a nearby buther soap and figured I would ask to see if they had beef fat for sale. Turns out they did so I picked up 1lb for...
