    Planning First Soap

Just giving you the heads up that a lot of folks have had trouble unmolding with the WSP molds...people have had better luck unmolding these babies if their soap reaches a full gel...so do what you can to insulate this, unless you're using any milk in your recipe. At this price, I would give...

    Vanilla and Creme brullee fragrance?

I am not an expert on essential oils, or blending EO's, but I know that vanilla oleoresin would be something to look into...it's available at Majestic Mountain Sage...whether it can even be soaped, I don't know. But, it's an EO, and apparently a very true vanilla. Maybe someone else with...

    Which online Suppliers

I really like WSP for general supplies, such as oils/butters. Very fairly priced for me. They also have a few FO's that I really like...and I'm a fan of some of their essential oil blends as well, such as the Bladderwrack blend. For scents, I LOVE Scent Works...some of my all-time favorites...

Which process is right for me?

I think CP is a good way to start...you get to control your own recipe, and really get a handle on the variables that make a soap good. I feel that HP soap is a wonderful and fun method too, but I recommend people try the CP method first. I'm just not a fan of M&P, although there are some...

    scent in soap-stays on skin?

Exactly what Mandolyn said...it's a wash-off product, so while the scent may linger on the skin for a little while, I don't expect it to last. Layering fragrances, such as using the soap, using a scented lotion, and then using the corresponding body spray works the best to maintain a scent.

going to make a peak order

I love Peaks...they're one of my all-time favs for candle scents, and I've had many winners for soapy FO's too... I don't think you'll find an oil that isn't absolutely TRUE to it's name... I love: Black Canyon Carrot Cake Freshly Mown Grass Amish Harvest (don't know if this is...

this weekend has been really hard

First of all, I want to give you an encouraging hug for all you went through this weekend...a very, very tough break, and I'm sorry both you and your girl went through any of it. Secondly, I know what it is to live with a chronic alcoholic/addict, and I can tell you some things quite...

Too early to think about fall?

The only fall-themed thing I've made so far is an unscented Pumpkin Buttermilk bar...it's a GREAT facial soap, and the lather (which I assume is due to the fact that my liquid is 100% buttermilk, no water) is TO DIE FOR.

    scent remaining on skin

I find that some lavenders will stay on the skin as well...

    Soap Scum

Bah! Soap scum!!! I don't let it get to me, although I'll admit that my tub gets a bit scummy with my handmade soap. Nothing a shot of some warm vinegar water won't cut right through!!!
