    Shampoo Bar - Thanks Lindy!!

Thank you Genny, Lindy, and all other members for the information in this post. I am trying out my first batch of shampoo bars tonight. Will post my results upon completion. I am using a modified version of Genny's recipe at the beginning of this thread. I subbed cocoa butter for the soybean...

    Citrus EO's and Liquid Soap

Very true, lemongrass is a staple in my liquid soap kingdom. I have not tried the polysorbate tip.

    Citrus EO's and Liquid Soap

Kazmi, It usally thins out the soap a good bit. Almost as if it is breaking it down. Still experimenting with Grapefruit, Lime, and Tangerine EO's

    Citrus EO's and Liquid Soap

Hello All! I hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I have a question regarding Citrus EO's and Liquid soap. When I use citrus EO's with my liquid soap, they always cloud, and even change the consistency of the soap. I was wondering what causes this to happen, and what can I do to make the...

    Propolis as a preservative???

Hello All, I am looking for some insight and knowledge regarding the preservative qualities of propolis. I have come across some local products that are advertising that there creams (beeswax, olive oil, water, bee pollen, and propolis) are safe, and are not at risk for bacterial growth due to...

    Silky Soap?

I second what Yvonne said. I have been using silk fibers in all of my soap. The silk protein that is derived does give the soap a more slick feel, and I feel it adds a touch of nourishment for the skin. I have had really good results. I always cut my fibers into very small pieces and add...

Yeah, I agree the deep green that the extra virgin olive oil brings is very nice. I enjoyed making this soap. I have so much now, that unless I give away a ton, it will be awhile before I make any more...hehe

Thank you Elly! I actually started with liquid soaps before bars. I find the process to be much easier than most of what I have read. If you want to give it a go, let me know I can give you some good tips I have learned along the way. Take care! Tank

    Castile Liquid soap

chibilightangel, thank you very much. The color comes from the EVOO, I also like the deep green that it make. As for storage, I store my liquid soaps in either 1 gallon plastic jugs, or reuse 1.5 gallon laundry soap dispensers. I just put a small amount in mason jars so I can test the...

    Yesterday's liquid castile soap

I felt froggy yesterday, and decided to make a batch of liquid castile soap. I have done many batches of liquid soap with very good results. This however has been the most interesting to date. A word to the wise, if you desire to make a batch from 100% EVOO as I did, be prepared. The major...

    Where to buy lye?

I agree with all of the Essential Depoter's out there. They are very quick, and often have lye specials with free shipping.
