    I'm learning :-D

I didn't realise I wouldn't need to line a paper towel roll. Cool! I actually used freezer paper to line and did exactly like you said and hot glued it to a cardboard base.

    I'm learning :-D

Oh, wow, thanks Liz... The imbed was made in a paper towel roll one day before the rest. After I unmoulded it, I rolled it in cocoa powder. Then I mixed up the main bit of soap batter, put some in the bottom of my silicon loaf mould, laid the cylinder on that...then poured in the rest of...

I feel like I'm learning so much from all of you... ThankYouThankYouThankYou! (Wish I could give more back, however, I hope that will come with time and experience...) Here are a couple photos of some recent soaps I've made. In the top pic are 3 bars...using cocoa powder for a rich colour...

    for the Beer Soap Experts

What timing! I just came across a video on YouTube over the weekend (Soaping101 Channel, if you've heard of it). Anyway, the video I watched mentioned leaving the beer out until flat and then freezing it. And combining with a "milk" of your choice for added conditioning to offset the...

    Fresh ingredients in CP soap

Oh, my! Something else to get excited about with soap making! So many ideas, so little time... Can I ask, what fruit or veggies retain their colour the best? It sounds like pumpkin works well. I think I'll try butternut squash today, as I'm going to have some left over after making soup...

    goats milk soap

So glad I looked at this thread! I just bought some goat's milk this morning to attempt my first batch of goat's milk soap...and this thread answered so many questions. Also, I've seen photos of the volcano effect, but had no idea what caused that. As a relatively inexperienced soaper, who is...

    Your favorite alternate molds

What a great thread...love to see such creative ideas! I recently cut a mailing tube in half, taped the plastic end pieces in place and and used it (lined) to produce semi-circle bars. It was a bit tricky to stabilise - I used the wall at the back of the kitchen counter with some books in front.

    Hello from Scotland

Wow, thanks for the tip, Hazel! I actually have a notebook I've been keeping all of my recipes in, as well as notes about what I'd do differently next time, and it sounds like this will indeed come in handy. I've seen a number of posts about how some soaps may improve after months of curing...

    Hello from Scotland

I would like to say hello, but more importantly, thank you all! I've been lurking in the shadows for a month or so now. I'm brand new to soap making and this forum has given me so much information and confidence to make my first few batches of CP soap. (I have yet to find my perfect recipe...
