    How do you lye?

I wear mask, gloves, eye protection, and long sleeves. Also, I cook soap when home alone: no kids, no husband. Don't want to give a chance... may be until I get used to it. My son is very interested in my new hobby...:-)

    Why Cook?

I thought CP soap could be very caustic at cut time. HP soap could be used immediately if cooked properly, you can even sculpture it with bare hand when you mold it. That was the main reason for me to make my choice.

    Soap with petals question

True. They look so nice in my oil - I am already infusing them. I will reuse them too. It is good to know it worked. Thanks!

    Soap with petals question

Sure, I will post the pics. Regarding mold...I like the way BB did. I do not have much choice with molds yet, but thinking about other pattern, we'll see...

    Soap with petals question

Obsidian, I was thinking about that. I agree it would be better to break the petals to smaller pieces. Did you mix your soap with petals you used to infuse oils?

    Soap with petals question

Did you try soap with petals mixed? The one like brambleberry teaches “Make Sunshine Soap with Orange and Calendula”? It looks pretty. I have some dried calendula petals home and thinking about trying it. Just wondering if petals can clog shower/bathtub drain? Just wanted to ask first before I...

    Pretty proud of this one...

Stunning. I would call it “Sunset”. At least the colors look like a sunset on my computer.

    Oil Infusion Experiment

DWinMadison, I like the idea. Does your soap retain those colors? Could you please post picture of your soap, if possible?

My first HP bath soap attempt.

Yes, it was hot process. I was cutting it soon after it was cooled, so it was easy to correct sides to make it smooth. Hardness was 42 accordingly soapcalc, but I find it being a little soft. Thank you.

My first HP bath soap attempt.

Sorry, I did copy/past instead of uploading when posted first time. You should be able to see it now.

My first HP bath soap attempt.

The recipe is simple (coconut oil, palm oil, soybean oil, olive oil and turmeric), but it feels so good! I still need to improve hardness, bubbling, color and scent. But overall it works well and makes skin feel good. Do you think it looks Ok for the first try? Thanks!

Looking for scent of fresh snow.

A hint of pine is fine if it does not dominate. I have reviewed all comments and it seems it is what I am looking for. Many thanks!
