My pumice soap was dark grey on the inside and light pink outside, I thought it had gelled before I cut it. I now think it was just the colour of the pumice when still very wet because it changed to a uniform pink all over after a few days.

Trial and error with your own recipes as I've heard that the soapcalc values can be a bit off.

Could be the difference between milk fats in different milkings. Have you popped it in the freezer after pouring? I always do this and haven't had problems, as well as soaping very cool. The one batch that I did think gelled after taking out of the freezer hadn't, it was just the pumice in it...

You have to set the SF yourself on soapcalc, so decide what you want it to be and put it in the box.

I put the whole thing in because I have to freeze it to prevent gel as I mainly make GM soap. So pour into the mould, whole lot in freezer, then pull out to do top then back in for 2 days.

Those tops seem to known as Lyn tops after Lyn who does them brilliantly :D What I do is get the batter to either a medium or thick trace, then put it in the freezer and let it set up a bit more then sculpt the top. Lyn has a video demo of how she does it, so have a look at that then do...

Is the inside negative suspended or do you pour silicon into the bottom of the main mould, then put the negative in then fill the sides?

So you made the perspex outer and inner mould as well?

I'd check the goat tallow was rendered properly and that the pine tar was pure. I have just made a pint tar soap and had no problems at all, and that was at 20% pine tar. It sets up super fast, other than that perfect.

If you've only been making soap since Feb then how do you know what will happen to your soaps after a cure? It's not the amount you can make you need to see what happens over time. Some of my soaps look as professional as those I've seen being sold but the more I make the more I know I have to...

I can't remember exactly where I got it, so maybe have a look at the cooking section in Kmart, being a Coles brand. Someone else might have a better suggestion on brands anyway so see what is posted. I am thinking about getting a second to have on hand so I'll be keen to see what other good...

Mine is Coles smart buy, it is the same one I've been using since I started (about 6 months?). But just saw the label and it says run 1 minute max then rest 3, which I haven't been doing so I guess I'll be burning that one out sooner or later too.
