    Salvageable??

Thank you, thank you! That is what I was thinking! Usually I could have pulled out the coconut and remeasured. But of course, I did this on our one warm day. So it was partially liqufied. No worries on using the bathroom scale! That was just to get a rough idea on how far I was off! Lol I...

    Salvageable??

Last week I was measuring out oils, chatting away at the same time. So it wasn't until I was putting in my last ingredient that it occurred to me that there was way to much in the container!!! The recipe only called for 28 oz! My son weighed it on the bathroom scale 3.5 lbs!! Ugh! My scale had...

    Mice!!

I like the idea of spraying and leaving in the sun to dry. Unfortunately that will have to wait until spring. I'm in NY, no such thing as sun right now. I bleached out my best soap pot and cutters. My colors looked pretty untouched, so I wiped everything down with Clorox wipes...

    Mice!!

I'm in the process of pulling out my soaping supplies after several years. Unfortunately the mice found my garage bins in the meantime. Glass and stainless things I will bleach. Plastic I may bleach or just pitch. My wooden molds are my big concern? I'm not sure if I should bleach or just...

I swear I've done this before! Ugh!!

I swear, I really do know how to make soap. :problem: But I think I've lost my touch! :-( It has been 4 years and feel like I'm starting from scratch. I made soap for several years, and I sold it. I wasn't someone who sold on a whim. I worked really hard at it. I was good at it, had some really...

    Scale Recommendations

Thank you!! It was one of the KD scales I had originally! I couldn't remember the name! I bought it off of Ebay.

    Scale Recommendations

I have remembered why I hated my scale! Right before I stopped soaping my scale had died. I replaced with a cheap one. The stupid thing weighs partial ounces with fractions instead of decimal points! Ugh! Need something reliable, but not overly expensive.

    How many oils??

I dug out my old binder today. I don't think I ever made the same one twice! No actually I did, I had my favorites and best sellers. But I also did alot of experimenting. LOL I realized most of mine had 6-8 oils in them. I think I need to scale back the amount and types of oils. I think...

Help adding FO to HP that's thick as dough

I started out doing HP soaps. I second using full water at all time. I also added my superfat at the same time as my fragrance. It's been awhile but I think I usually used a stickblender to work it in. I never used SL and never had a problem mixing in my fragrance.

Dare I mess with old oil?

I like the coffee soap idea! That would hide it, if it did DOS! Lol Oils are so expensive to waste!

Dare I mess with old oil?

Hi! When I was digging my supplies out of the garage, I found I had packed away a partial container of almond oil and I think safflower oil? Not even sure why I had the safflower, wasn't one of my regular oils! Lol These were bought from Columbus foods, between 4-5 yrs ago. But they...

    Dusting off the soap molds!

Hi, I usually forget to post introductions, so I am doing it first thing! LOL I used to be an avid soaper and did sell. But probably the same as many people, when the economy tanked so did my business! LOL But, the other day I was down and just thinking. I realized I had given up something I...
