Would these ingredients work for a soap bar?

I took my son to the specialists because he had a second degree chemical burn. This has been discussed in previous posts. He saw the top specialists in my state at the Burn Trauma Center and the Dermatology Center. So, people that are much more experienced in these situations then Urgent Care.

I also, have more experience with allergies then the majority of the population. I know the symptoms to look out for and how to patch test/treat.

My sympathies on your experience. It's never fun dealing with allergies, and I do understand how that feels when a doctor does not listen to you, that is why I only send my son to see Specialists that know what they are doing. I know where to go, because honestly, I credential them.
To be honest, I'm not surprised this happened. I am sorry this happened though. My daughter had a similar experience with Dove bars many years ago but the chemical burns were not as bad as when I'm thinking occured with your son. She definitely had irritated skin and if it wasn't for my sister using that soap to wash her face, things could have gotten worse.

While I'm against lye bases soaps being used for babies, I'm also for using what works for our children's skin. Using a liquid soap is a smart idea. I couldn't do that with my daughter until she was much older. @AliOop gave a perfectly serviceable and gentle recipe. just be sure to play around with tallow if you use that as I personally find it to be a smidge cleansing. A 60/40 lard/tallow mix is pretty nice too.

Yes, I will never forget... I am now incredibly paranoid of all the soaps on the shelf at the store...

Don't be. Not all soaps can or should be judged that way. My daughter's also an example of someone not being able to use handmade soaps. For her, we switched to Cetaphil bars and never looked back. I'm not going to recommend them to you for your son's use (still so young and this experience is way too fresh) but for a major brand like that not to have upset her skin like Dove did is remarkable. Mind you, my daughter has had eczema and allergies since she was a baby. The key, as said before, is really to find what works for you and yours.

Yeah, I tried Cetaphil... it didn't cause a chemical burn, but after using that instead of my handmade products my son's skin got dry and patchy in some places, and broke out in others.

My husband wanted me to try using a product off the shelf (for ease of use). But after seeing that his skin doesn't react well to it, we have given up on products off the shelf. Atleast for now.

Awww - poor wee bubba xxxxx
Yeah, he was 4 months when this happened... and a very verbal 4 month old. There were a lot of tears shed from everyone in the family during this time. His nurse even cried after treating him... 😢
