For the record, when I have the energy to have a rant about people giving half the unit name, I want you all to know that I'm displaying irony here.
I recognise "degrees" as nothing but an utterly pointless expression. "Degrees Centigrade" would be technically correct, but even "Centigrade" is more useful than "degrees". I can't help but think this stems from folk who believe in only one measurement system.
I'm going to start talking about "mils". You won't have a clue if I'm talking about millilitres, millimetres, milli-inches, or even angle (yup, there's 6400 mils in a full circle).
