I am an experimental junkie. I have been soap well over a year and have tried numerous recipes. One recipe I tried recently seems VERY soft. I am wondering if this will harden up. It is about
49% olive
24% coconut
9% shea butter
8% cocoa butter
5% castor oil
5% apricot oil
Does this recipe seem good? Will it get harder?

Don't worry, Janice- all soap gets harder eventually. :)

Nothing stands out as being unusual to me with your recipe. It's actually somewhat similar in composition to my Castile-type that I make with 50% OO, which always cures out hard for me.

Did you use a "full water" amount, and/or did your soap go through gel? Those 2 things can affect how hard or soft the soap is at unmolding time. No worries, though- like I said above, it'll eventually harden up during cure.

IrishLass :)

I didn't change the water on the bb calculator. So I'm assuming it's full water. (I don't mess with the water...I've never tried). And because I use milks in alot of my soaps, it didn't gel. I like the look of ungelled ;-)
Thanks for the reply. I'll wait the 4-6 weeks. Maybe wait 8 weeks to make sure.
