Hi All,
I'm looking for a shampoo bar recipe, and have found a couple, but I'm wondering what is the difference between a shampoo bar and a bar of soap? The oils seem a bit richer maybe, and most have a bit of jojoba oil. Is there a particular formula I should aim for if making my own recipe using soap calc? High conditoning properties, maybe? What is stearic acid? What does it do? Questions! Questions! Do you have some Answers? :?:

Hi -

Because everyone's hair is different - it's hard to find one recipe that will work for everyone. Maybe someone that has particular knowledge of what the majority of Shampoo Bar users will come along and add their advice. However - it will be a trial and error process for you I believe. Hopefully there will be enough experience shared here to get you somewhat ahead of the game at least.

I think the major difference is in the pH.

Shampoos tend to test closer to 8 and soaps closer to 10.
