I've thought about soap today - does that count ?
Agree with the Avery website! I design all my labels there and then save a PDF to a print file on my PC.I use the Avery website. It’s pretty simple to use. If you decide to give it a try and need help, let me know.![]()
Completely agree!Label-haters, unite! They make me![]()
and I'll definitely take dishes any day instead.
Hoping to hear any comments on this. One of my next soaps is planned to include colloidal oats, which I’ve never done before. Curious….I am using a bar of oatmeal, goat's milk, and honey soap that just finished the first 6 weeks of it's cure. It's very nice, but it is gritty. I've never had one of my oatmeal soaps be gritty before. I used Aveeno colloidal oats and powdered goats milk. I'm sure it's the oats because another bar with powdered goats milk but no oats is super creamy. I wonder if I should have hydrated the oats somehow? It's very odd to me.
Did this actually work we have a bunch of extra breast milk and my wife wants me to make them into soap, didn't even know it could be a lotionIm making both today. I know my daughter put some breast milk on a rash at the waist diaper line and it helped so it may be beneficial. We will see.
I love this place. I was able to search the forum and finf=d the answers I need to make breast milk soap.
@dmcgee5034 and @MrsZ, I have made several batches with colloidal oats and never had gritty bits. My colloidal oats are Crafters Choice from WSP. Shouldn’t be any different than Aveno but maybe? I just add the oats to my oils and blend them in.Hoping to hear any comments on this. One of my next soaps is planned to include colloidal oats, which I’ve never done before. Curious….
Same here, I've never had grit before either. I didn't keep good notes on how I added it in the past though. How much oats do you use PPO, if you don't mind my asking? I'm wondering if I just used too much.@dmcgee5034 and @MrsZ, I have made several batches with colloidal oats and never had gritty bits. My colloidal oats are Crafters Choice from WSP. I think it’s one Tb/ppo but will have to get back to you on that. I’m away from the house right now.Same here, I've never had grit before either. Hmmm that is interesting. Did your Aveeno oatmeal contain anything else besides oatmeal?I am using a bar of oatmeal, goat's milk, and honey soap that just finished the first 6 weeks of it's cure. No, the ingredients are 100% oats. Maybe I dissolved them in the past and didn't this time? I'll try another batch and dissolve the oats in a little water first and see how it goes.Hmmm that is interesting. Did your Aveeno oatmeal contain anything else besides oatmeal?
i do mix my colloidal oats in a bit of water before adding them to my soap batter. I'm not sure that's entirely necessary, but I like seeing them melt into the water and almost completely dissolve.
@MrsZ, I just checked and I do use 1TB/ppo.I think it’s one Tb/ppo but will have to get back to you on that. I’m away from the house right now.
Thank you!@MrsZ, I just checked and I do use 1TB/ppo.
Thank you so much. I have the same colloidal oats from WSP.@dmcgee5034 and @MrsZ, I have made several batches with colloidal oats and never had gritty bits. Me, too. I finally went to a local printing shop and had them design a logo for me. They provided both a PDF and an SVG file so I can put it in the Avery program and also others like XTool for making coasters (and eventually tee shirts).Agree with the Avery website! I have been thinking about lip balm tubes FOREVER! I can't decide if I want them or little jars, which I have used in the past. I like the jars but don't know how or what others think about them. Then I think I will use both...yeah, I know I overthink a lot of stuff when it comes to soaping, etc. I drive myself crazy at times! So, Zing please let us know how easy it is to fill them, and did you get plastic or cardboard-type ones, I am anxious to hear what you have to say about your experience! Have fun filling those little babies!Today I received my order for lip balm tubes. Yay, Inventory Guy was on it before I ran out! I also boxed up several cured soap batches. Boo, Inventory Guy forgot to get cotton balls, which I like to dab with the essential oils I used for scent.
I've done both and the tubes sell better for me. Personally, I prefer the tubes over the jars.I have been thinking about lip balm tubes FOREVER! Oh Canva! I know many people that use it but I have jumped it - yet.I used combo of Canva with Avery and Online Labels. I've had issues with labels printing skewed on Avery several times. I've seenothers say the same thing. I think what i hate the most is the actual creation of the label, especially for something new or different. My creative brain goes right out the window.
I'm also tryna talk myself out of making another soap right now. I've got 5(6?idk) made and curing now THAT NEED LABELS LMBO
