I'm attempting to make some sugar scrubs and some are for me but i'd like to give some to friends and family. What preservative would I use in it? I already have a basic recipe to play around with but because fingers are going inside the jar I would like to preserve it.

It looks like liquipar &/or germaben II might both be good choices. I believe phenonip is also am appropriate preserve for this application. Preservative should be used at the manufacturers guide, usually .5 - 1% depending on which one you choose.

I actually saw that on wsp it says that for scrubs containing at least 25% of oils use germaben 11 then it says liquipar and phenonip. I happen to have a bottle of germaben 11 yeahhhhh! I'm excited when I learn to do stuff from scratch. I will let you know how it goes!
