ok.

I have gathered and understand it’s synthetic and not natural yada yada yada

But has anyone asked HOW synthetic detergents are made?

I can’t find any information, but I have a sneaky suspicion that it’s tied into making fuel. Gasoline. Diesel. Soap/detergent is a byproduct of making fuel.

The amount of gasoline we use(as a nation - USA) and the amount of (potential) soap type products produced from it, would make the resulting byproducts super super cheap. Soap noodles, SLS, etc ahoy! These soap products would be laden with all sorts of toxic products because of how gasoline is made.

But, in its essence, it’s hot process.

I’m not so sure that ‘synthetic’ is so much different than ‘natural’ soap, except for the base ingredients and the additional use of some chemicals to make fuel.

These are my musings and my musings are my own, possibly conspiracy theory related. “The oil companies control everything, man! Even Disneyland!”

Anyone want to chime in? Or blackball this thread? Kick me out of the soap forum for revealing industry secrets?
