I am pretty sure it is air bubbles but want to make sure. I test with small batches about 385g of oils. I then pour into this mold. I think cause of the small size air gets whipped in, but it only seems to be on the edges, I do not have bubbles through out the soap. That’s is the only reason I think I may be wrong. Even small batches I use CPOP. This was my first test with tallow as my main oil so I was not sure if that was a cause either.

I had something similar when I forgot to turn off the oven for CPOP. Am interested in what others have to say, as I've never used tallow. I no longer use the oven to gel; I use a heating pad and a box overturned to keep in the warmth.

This is not air bubbles whipped into the soap batter.

This is "silicone rash" caused by CPOPing soap in a silicone mold for too long and too hot. This soap has a fairly bad case of this rash, compared to what I normally see on this forum.

If you must CPOP, preheat the oven to a lower temperature and turn the oven off before putting the soap in the warm oven.

That makes sense, my test mold is really thin and flimsy. My larger mold is thicker and is a silicone mold in a wood box, so there is less heat transfer. Maybe in my next test, I will just use the oven light and not warm it up first.
