Hello All!!
I made a 5 kg cold processed soap two days ago Three one kg mold the saponification turned out good But in the 5 kg mold the saponification did happen but there was water about 200 ml that was locked in and oozed out when I upturned the soap slab. I doubted very much lye
Tested for touch and smell It didn’t have fragrance neither irritation on my skin But was soapy to touch and lathered so much to wash it off
The PH was 11 Could anyone account what it could be? I used citrus juice to dissolve my lye
Citric acid 30 g
Lye compensation 18 g
Super fat 5%
Saturated unsaturated ratio was 44:56

Hard to say but my guess is the large batch was not fully emulsified when you poured the soap into the mold. Or the soap overheated in the larger mold and the emulsion failed an separated due to the overheating. Or both.

I suspect you are using the same equipment and methods to mix a 5 kg batch that you are using to mix a 1 kg batch. If so, understand what works for a small batch does not necessarily work for a much larger one.
