I will cut this story short because I can't stay on the PC long.

Last night I didn't put my glasses back on after a break from soaping all day (just forgetful, not on purpose) and yep, you guessed it - I got raw soap in my EYE!

RAW SOAP BURNS!!! Make sure you always wear all your protective clothing/equipment etc.

Thankfully it was a very small amount, I flushed immediately and got the hospital quickly. I have surface damage on the white part only (which is a very good thing) and it will be ok in the long term anyway.

A stupid forgetful lesson that I wanted to share just so everyone else doesn't make the same mistake. I won't post a pic of my eye cause its not very pretty.

So glad to hear there won't be permanent damage. The pain must be awful. Thanks for the reminder! Hope you heal well.

ji'm so sorry to hear that and so glad you got it seen to quickly! Here's hoping you heal up soon and thank you for the warning.

Many many bags of saline irrigation. Then they checked my eye with a 'eye scope' thingy and put dye in there to see damage. They did the same again this morning when I went back to see the specialist (with the dye) he checked for red blood cells and to see if there was any cornea damage - there wasn't thank goodness.

It could have so easily been worse or fatal to my eye - I was very very very lucky. I just wanted to tell everyone just to serve as a warning/reminder. It was my own silly fault and I won't make that mistake again

Ya poor girl. I'm so glad that you won't have any permanent damage and thank you so much for taking the time to remind your fellow soapers to wear eye protection.

I bought a full face shield the other day and it's so comfy that I keep forgetting I have it on and bring bottles up to my nose to sniff and bang them into the shield. I can wear my reading glasses underneath. My husband laughed at me the other night for wearing glasses and shield. He won't be laughing now.

Hugs to you and I hope all is well very soon.

Ouch! Hope it's not too bad!

These tips are priceless for the newbs like me. :)

Wear glasses!

Must have been a week for lessons, Last week I was cleaning my stick blender... didnt even think of needing glasses for cleanup. A piece flung of and hit me right in the eye. I hollered loud enough to scare my poor hubby to death. After flushing, and flushing...... it finally got ok. But OH did it ever hurt.

I did at last have gloves on..., but no glasses.

BUT GOGGLES for clean up also. It was still raw soap on my stick blender.

Thanks for the reminder... I'm just sorry it was at your expense.

Now if someone could just remind me to take my goggles OFF when I'm finished. They fit just like sunglasses. I often forget they are there and once my SO found me watching television with them.

Feel better soon!

Thank goodness your guardian angel was paying attention! Glad to hear you are going to be okay. We all make these mistakes sometimes so thank you for posting this to remind us to be more careful.

Soaped tonight and because of your reminder, I was especially careful to wear my heavy gloves, goggles, and even my face mask. Unfortunately, I forgot to put shoes on (had socks) and didn't remember until the top of my foot started to burn in a couple of places! I think I need to post a checklist for myself.
