Vegetable Shortening in Soap?

Hi everyone,

I have a question about soap ingredients. I use vegetable shortening in my soaps and was informed today that it is not a recognized ingredient on the INCI chart. Has anyone else ever had this problem, and if so what did you do?

I was using Crisco in my soaps for awhile. When I listed ingredients on my bars I put ( ) and listed everything that is in crisco. It is quite a bit to list. I think you can get INCI names for all of the ingredients in crisco or any other brand as well.

Do you mind my asking, what are you using now? I'm thinking of changing my formulas.

I switched to cottonseed oil. So far I love it.

Thanks for the info. Is Cottonseed oil relatively inexpensive and where would I find it?
