Yes, it can be used. There have been many threads on cleaning used oil but I can't find any at the moment, lol. People often get used oil from restaurants just to repurpose it into soap. Hopefully someone will come by that can give you the procedure or the link. One thing you'll need to know is exactly what's in it (the types of oils and their percentages) so you can calculate the lye correctly.

Lots of resources on SMF and elsewhere, but here are a few leads to get you started:

Production of high quality castile soap from high rancid olive oil by Girgis, Grasas y Aceites. Vol. 54. Fasc. 3 (2003), 226-233

You may also want to do a "boiled and salted out" process for saponification rather than a CP or HP process to ensure the fat is fully saponified and to remove more of any contaminants not removed when the fat was cleaned. See:

Thanks guys for the quick reply most of the oil was used to cook chicken and potatoes I also have a nice collection of bacon grease which I already found the cleaning procedure for . I just could not find one for the vegetable oil . I am not sure what the makeup of oil is just your cheap vegetable oil that Wal-Mart sells .

Vegetable oil = soy oil

I no longer buy it (switched to peanut oil) but I have used it for liquid soap for a few years. It makes a great liquid soap with used 70-80% veg oil and 30-20% (new) coconut oil. I use it for dish soap and it performs quite well. I have also used it for CP soap, works OK but it is more perishable than soaps made with 'new' oil. Just use it before it 'expires'. Not my favorite in CP soap, but in liquid soap it works as well as olive oil, if not better.
