Ive made my second batch of soap and it's very different from the first batch using lard. First being approx 20min after pouring into mold it swelled and cracked. I had not covered it as I did the original batch and it was cooler in the kitchen so maybe that had to do with it. The tallow was overly hot, I knew I should've waited but lesson learned as well, it may have over heated. I noticed also there are a few white powdery looking spots, may have to do with the cracking.

Either way it did turn out nice and firm and it retained the lavender scent I added. It's a nice creamy bone color not the bright white of the lard. I have both sitting to cure now, and I'm trying to decide what my next batch will be.
