Dubbing. (as in fly fishing).
Cassette (as from "high speed dubbing" from 80's HiFi features. obscure reference alert lol)

When the tape would become loose inside the cassette and begin to unravel, one could insert a pencil into one of the round holes in the cassette to tighten up the tape so it wouldn't all come out and become trash. I've had to do this at times.......guess I'm telling my age.
Not sure how it didn't quote the whole thing so I've added Kiti's "pencil" to fix whatever I didn't do correctly.
[I still play my cassettes.... and I sometimes have needed to use a pencil. lol]
I still have some around the house from back when my boys were very young; they're in their mid/late 30's now.
(I still have the cassette tapes I saved up for back in elementary school.. And I have used a pencil multiple times over the decades lol. What surprises me more is having a player that still works haha)
I have an old one somewhere around this house. I'll have to dig in some deep dark corners to see if I can find it, lol.
Basketball (in response to "sleeves")
I am happy to have given you all some amusement with my "pencil" reply! I always think of the rewinding of a cassette tape with a #2 pencil!
