Recently, I have been having some issues with my soap coming out really soft even after sitting in the mold for 72 hours. The same soap was still the consistency of modelling clay a week after cutting. This was a recipe that I have used in the past with no issues so it was a bit of a head scratcher as to what was going on.

(See this thread for further info: http://www.soapmakingforum.com/showthread.php?t=62704)

With the help of all the great people here on the forum we determined that it was caused by the soaping area being cooler than normal due to the air conditioning being on. Subsequent batches have been fine.

Unfortunately, I was stuck with four pounds of week-and-a-half old soap with the texture of modelling clay until I found DeeAnna's cpop after the fact tutorial. (http://classicbells.com/soap/cpopAfterTheFact.html)

I put the bars on a parchment lined cookie sheet and heated them in a 160 degree oven for an hour, removed them and covered them with a towel to cool down slowly.

This morning the difference in the bars is like day and night. The bars that were once like clay are now nice and firm, and the colors have really "popped". Thank you DeeAnna for saving my soap!

I'm so glad this worked for you! I'm tickled you gave it a try ... and I'm even happier to hear your report about how it worked. I really appreciate hearing how different techniques work (or don't as the case may be).
