Just wanted to let all of you who gave me advice and encouragement know that the "oil slick" batch fail was saved...yay!!! I stuck it in the crock pot and waited patiently this time, (hard for me), and sure enough, it started to gel. I stirred occasionally, and it got more liquidy, and I got out the potato masher and got all of the lumps out. It was kind of like lava, and liquid enough to flow into the mold when I tipped the crock pot. The tops are a little scruffy looking, but the two big logs are saved! I tried a sliver this morning, and it's just my good, soapy soap again. What a relief, so thank you all again. Here is a pic of gelling in the crock pot, and one of the finished product.
