I can’t seem to get rid of the ash on top of my soap. I found an old clothing steamer. Any tips on how to use it? Can I steam the whole loaf top while it’s still in the mold?

I agree with shunt2011. I spray 99% isopropyl alcohol on my hardening soap to help prevent it to start with but if I do get ash, I just don't worry about it. I explain what it is if someone asks and other than that, I just ignore it.

Yes, you can steam while still in the mold. I actually use my iron to steam off ash. I've seen this one soap company take their whole loaf, fresh out the mold, and run water over the top of it. They like rinse the ash off.
