I use it in my sugar scrubs, not in my regular soap. Why did you choose to use it regular soap? It's expensive and table sugar will do just as well for bubbles plus it's alot cheaper.
 
For my soap recipe, sorbitol produces much better bubbles than regular table sugar, and with less than half the amount. It hasn't sped up trace for me, but I do pre-dissolve it (along with sodium citrate) in additional water, which I then mix with my MB lye solution. Of course, that makes the lye solution heat up, so I let it cool back down while my oils cool, as well.
