I have been a hobbyist soap maker for over 15 years. I have recently started to use the heat transfer method. I would like to use sodium lactate to harden the bars. I know the general rule is to add it to the cooled lye water. However, I'm using the heat of the lye water to melt my harder fats/butters. When should I add the sodium lactate?

Add it with your soft oils.
