Sorry, I didn't know it existed.
Maybe I'm just not seeing it, where do you add the total amount of base oils for the formula on soap friend?
I like SMF and it works really well.
I haven't looked at Soap Making Friend either. Actually have been distracted with recent family issues and rarely have had time to even do quick glances here at the forum. Thanks tho to others who have given their input.
I didn’t even know this existed. I’ve used soapee before, but this one looks better and has inventory! Awesome!
I love it I use it every time
I like that the site assigns a number for "longevity". I've been using soapcalc.net and I'm comfortable with it. I may enter my recipe in soapmaking friends from time to time, especially to get the longevity number
I’m so sorry, I just now saw this!
You add your total oils in the beginning, and then you can specify to build the recipe by percentages or by individual amounts: (Sorry for the amateurish iPad screenshot)
In this case, I’m using a total of 30 ounces of oils for my mold and building my recipe by percentages of oils. I hope that helps!
I really need EDTA added at a choice of strengths added to that list somewhere. Even in custom additives where I would have to do my own math would be OK, but having the calculator do the math would be best. I would really prefer it be up there by the lye masterbatch, as I masterbatch that also, and both factors determine how much "just water" I need to add. Also, custom additives that are added "with the oils" need to be by the oils.
I just printed this out, and it may just be me, but I would love the list of ingredients with amounts I need to be at the top, and all the other info at the bottom. Makes it easier to follow for me.
I would also like there to be more than one line for fragrances with the amounts for each one available. I often make blends and tweak them, so being able to put exactly how much of what would be great.
A place for the date needs to be at the top. Yes, I know you provided the "recipe date" which is good, but when I am working on scent formulas, I really need a "date made" somewhere up there.
Also, a place to put in colorants with amounts would be phenomenal. This helps me figure out if I used enough of "X" colorant from this new supplier on that batch. That "additional ingredients" area would be the perfect place if I could TYPE in what it is with the amount.
This is probably really nit-picky, but I have time today where I may not have time for months to come (unless I have to have surgery again on my foot, in which case I will have lots of time coming up). But, "Masterbatch lye amount" would be much better spelled out as "Masterbatch NaOH/H2O amount" or even "Masterbatch NaOH amount".
Sorry to hit you with everything at once, and at this late date, but it is the first time I have had time to slow down for a minute.
I checked it out a couple of times. It seems really good to me.
I would also love the list of ingredients with amounts at the top.
Unfortunately I am a new user and haven't had a chance to really look over the site.
Not tried it yet...will look at it now
By far I haven't experienced any problem with it. It's actually very helpful since it helps me to calculate things easier
But if I encounter anything weird I'll come back and post it here
When using the option to use masterbatch lye I notice an issue with the required liquid amount. The liquid does not recalculate for the water/liquid in the masterbatch. So if a person uses the amount of liquid listed and uses the masterbatch option it will be too much liquid. Hopefully, I explained it well enough to know what I am trying to say.
I do have to say I love the option of being able to add in additives that are not listed in the master list.
Thank you for all the hard work that has gone into this calculator, it is fantastic.
