Hi guys hope you are having a happy soaping day. Well it’s officially summer in New York and I’m soaping in the basement since I’ve started, it gets pretty warm down there. Could this be the reason for the white spots on my soap or is it that I’m peaking too much at my soap during gel phase. I spray the spots with alcohol they will not come off.

Can you show us a picture? My first idea when you say 'white spots' is stearic spots, which form when soaping too cool. But when you say your basement gets warmer that doesn't really make sense. I think small air bubbles can also sometimes look like white spots..?
Looks like ash. It's cosmetic won't hurt anything. Can be washed or planed off .
I’ll try to wash one bar and see if it comes off thinking it’s glycerin also as I tell you the basement gets super hot as the temperature rises during the day. Think I’ll turn the AC on
Glycerin wouldn't be dry looking like that. It would sweat out.

cool the room too, but cover the soap with plastic wrap. Tweaking the recipe might help, but its easier just to wash it off!

It's been cool-cold in NYC until a few days ago, maybe Friday or Saturday. I want warmer weather not humid, muggy weather. In any case, depending on your region, humidity may cause some interference. If you can monitor the humidity levels in your soaping/storage area, it may help you. Fall-Spring have been the best times for soaping for me. Summer, because I get weird during this time, I soap less.
