I made the following 1000 g batch:

Cocoa Butter 250 g
Coconut 76 % 200 g
Grapeseed oil 100 g
Olive Oil 200 g
Palm Oil 200 g
Castor Oil 50 g
frozen goat milk 250 gm
Lye 134.34 g

Water as % of oils 25 %
Super Fat 8 %
Unscented

I love the feel of this soap. The later feels so creamy and my skin feels wonderfully soft.

Here is my question. Does it make sense to add so much Cocoa butter to a recipe or is it overkill. Does somebody out there make soap like that and what are your thoughts on it. I would love to use this recipe to make a line of soap. What about using shea butter in a higher procentage?????

jThanks

Forgot to add my numbers:

Hardness 45
Cleansing l4
Condition 52
Bubbly 18
Creamy 36

I do think that too much cocoa or shea butters can be overkill. They are more expensive and when used in a wash off product like soap, some benefits are lost when rinsed.

Now - cocoa butter makes for a great hard oil, especially if you are trying to go without palm oil. But again - I would use as little as possible as it will effect the final price of your soap. I have been using cocoa butter and soay wax together to replace palm in some of my soaps and so far have been very happy.
