I use melt and pour. I have visited 2 of my stores that carry my soap this past week and my bars are getting smaller---the wrap label is loose. The bars are visibly smaller.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

Appreciate any feedback!

You nailed it on the head. Your soap is evaporating. M&P needs to be wrapped airtight to prevent shrinkage. Saran wrap is good, you could also use shrink wrap or cello bags if you can seal them air tight.

eeks!

Thanks so much for your qwuick reply!

Ok...now I need to look into something. I guess a muslin bag wouldn't work, it needs to be airtight eh? (sorry, candian slip eh)

No, fabric would not work. You can wrap it in saran & then drop it into a pretty bag.

homemade lye soap shrinks, too.

I have the same problem, I sell my homemade soap on the internet and wrap it in pretty white wrapping paper. It tend to shrink after a week. So far no complaints from my customers, their just happy to find a "real" soaqp with no additives.
