Soap in a sponge

Saw a local store selling large bath sponges that were permeated/infused with soap. Has anyone else seen this or tried it?

I tried putting soap inside a a kitchen sponge ETA: years ago. It worked great, but the soap was gone within 4 days even with taking it out of the sponge every evening. However, I don't remember which soap recipe I used. I'd think one would could get better mileage depending on the soap recipe.

I've seen a lot of these made with loofah slices (with soap basically poured over the top). I think they were pretty popular for awhile.
