Ok, I figured out the texture difference. The first bar seems to have air bubbles in it possibly from when I tried to microwave smooth the tops in the silicone mold. The second bar is denser and harder. Both behaved the same when washing my hair. I tried the second bar only washing my scalp area and had the same result as with the first bar. What's weird is that even though it's a complete fail for my hair, it's actually turned out to be a godsend for my face! It's clearing up my face without any irritation whatsoever.
