My list of things to try keeps getting longer. I'm experimenting with salt bars. The first attempt had salt at about 90% of the weight of the oils. This time was about 30%. It left me enough time to get a nice, beachy swirl, but I think maybe some of my salt sank...

Nicely done!! If your batter isn't thick enough salt will settle. If I'm swirling, I get it to a thicker trace than usual but not too thick to keep the salt suspended. I use 30-40% salt and find it's the perfect amount for me.

Since it is a salt bar, the original design didn't include a swirl, just the sand and water (colored) portions, separated by some white. It was behaving so well, I just had to stick my hanger in there and try. I used my 16 oz mold, in case my experimenting went south-- now I'm wishing I had done a bigger batch!
