So excited to report that my crumbled gardener's soap successfully re-batched ! I had been looking at it everyday as it was getting drier and more crummy looking... literally, so it was dump it or try and re-batch. I found Zany's method and it seemed pretty straight forward, so I followed it to the letter ! She said to use water if the oils were animal or milk if they were vegetable. As mine were 80% vegetable I used 80% buttermilk (because that's what I had in the fridge) + 20% water. I also mixed in about 1 Tbs of sunflower oil after it came out of the oven.
The pictures show the result...
It was the oven method as opposed to crock pot or stove top....I had done stove top before and it was a disaster !
First photo was taken just after I made it a week ago.
Second taken last night when I was grating it.
Third... today ! I decided not to do it in a log.. just in case, but I could have as it cut beautifully.
It's still fairly soft so I think it will be a long cure.... but I'm happy :)
