I recently made a batch of soap with sea salt added at trace. When I went to unmold the soap logs the soap was wet. It wasn't oily and the soap set up just fine. I cut them up and threw them on the curing rack hoping for the best. When I checked them the next day they were dry. Am I missing something here? Is this normal?

Thanks Y'all

Depends on how much salt you used. Was this a salt bar or a regular soap recipe with salt added? I make salt bars and sometimes they sweat a bit once cut but cure out nicely. I find if it's especially humid they sweat a bit more.

I can't remember how much salt I used off the top of my head. It was a regular soap recipe with salt added. I would say I used about 3 cups of salt for 6 lbs of oils. I'm hoping mine are on the 'cure out nicely' end of things. I was away this weekend and haven't checked on them yet.

Unless you have a primarily high CO soap you will also find that too much salt will affect the lather and will likely not have much at all. To get a good lather you need a high CO content with a high SF.

Hmm, interesting. I'll Keep that in mind. Well I guess I will have see how these bars behave once they fully cured. Thank you for your help! :)
