Hi!

I'm a newbie here and I'm getting ready to make my first bath of CP soap! Woo-hoo!! :D I have a question about essential oils... is there a general rule about how much to add? I read somewhere (I think in the Everything Soapmaking book) that you add 1 Tablespoon of EO per lb. of oil. That seems like an awful lot to me. Does it depend on what EO you want to use?

Thanks!! :)

Yes....it does depend on the EO. For example, with an irritant like cinnamon or clove, you would want to add much less. For a citrus, you may want more, even with something like benzoin or patchouli to "anchor it" because they fade so quickly.

Alicia's guideline in that book is a good one......use that and follow what your nose says. Does that help?
