Hey all, New to the board....I have been making cp soap now for a couple of years and enjoyed it. The one problem is the scent seems to fade completely with some essential oils after just a couple of months. When I go the the natural food store and smell some of the larger suppliers soaps theirs have a great smell. Is this just "fresh" soap or is there a preservative that I should be using??? I make 5lbs batches and mix my lye and oil at 110-115 degree.

After my CP soap cures for four weeks, I put it in a shoebox size tupperware plastic container and soak a cotton ball with FO and I lay it in the box (on top of a piece of wax paper, FO can melt plastic) with the soaps and put the lid on. I let the soap "soak up" to scent fore another week. It really helps the soap hold a scent that people can smell by picking up the bar!
