Preservative for hand cream question...

I'm about to make my first ever hand cream and the recipe calls for 6gms Optiphen Plus. I only have Germall Plus so wondering if I can substitute and if so can I use the same amount ?

Germall plus is fine. Different preservatives have different usage rates. .05% for germall but please look up the temperature limits so you know when its safe to add

Isn't the recommended usage from 0.1% to 0.5% for liquid germall plus? I normally use 0.5%.

Thats what I use is 0.5%. You're correct the range is 0.1–0.5% but I use the 0.5 to be on the safe side.

@msunnerstood -- Good to know we're in agreement! I also err on the 0.5% side too.

Your earlier post says .05%, not 0.5%. Might want to edit that to move the decimal place to the right spot?

Yes, Germall plus is fine, at 0.5%.
Their heat sensitivity is different though -- Germall plus is more heat sensitive, so you want to let your lotion cool to warm before you add it.
