I am using powdered sugar for the first time. I’ve only used granular sugar previously. I mixed the PS with my water yesterday, and today it had a bit of sediment on the bottom. I figure that’s the anti caking agent, I think it’s corn starch. It looked like more than I expected, but it may just have expanded due to absorbing water. I stirred it and added my lye anyway. It discolored slightly more than plain sugar, but not much.
However, there is a slightly thickened consistency. I imagine with the cornstarch it made a bit of “gravy”. Still ok to use? Should I expect anything different in performance?
TIA! 💖

It will be fine. The starch might even add a little more slip to your soap

I'm sure it's fine. It probably heated up enough to dissolve the starch, and now you have lye gravy. The extra starch might help your bubbles stick around a bit longer.

I've only ever used powdered sugar with no issues to date.
