In the past I've added poppy seeds, and they usually work fine, but 1 time they bleed brown, any thoughts? Was it the type of poppy seeds I used? Tones poppy seeds from the spice isle at the market.

I've only used poppy seeds once, but I'm pretty sure they were Tone's and there wasn't any discoloring.

I only use mine for the exfoliating and visual effect. Mine are ground seeds, which helps keep the exfoliating from being too much!

I use ground too, not as rough as the whole seeds and it looks really pretty. After I grind the seeds, I rinse them then squeeze out the excess water. They are more of a dark brown when ground.
When I did use whole ones, they didn't discolor or get halos, I just got some generic ones on sale at the grocery store.
