Poor quality lye

The granules refuse to dissolve even in room temp water. I've not see anything like this. Usually after a good stirring the lye water is clear with good lye. And I've been getting the worst ash. Recipes done many times with little or no ash the times before.

I really think ash has to do with your lye and all of it is not the same.

If I can ask, where do you like to order yours from? I'm more towards the west coast.
 
I have bought my last batch from certified-lye.com

Thanks. :) Well, I contacted the company but I don't think it will do any good, they already said, oh we haven't had any other complaints at all....

I still can't get used to buying stuff without seeing it first and not being able to return it in most cases if there's something wrong or it just disappoints. Maybe that's a good thing that I stay skeptical and be really picky.
