Just made a small batch of salt bars, I am almost out of Lye. After this I will be making more, maybe light Green to use up the Christmas oxide I have. I used the oven method so was able to use one right away (after testing pH)!
Recipe I used:
12.8 Coconut oil
2.4 Canola oil (it called for Almond oil)
.8 Castor oil
4.82 Water (I used 5 oz.) plus 1/2 t. sugar
2.43 Lye
Mix 1/4 t. powder oxide with 16 oz. fine or med. grain salt (I used Kosher salt), save a little for top
Add salt and fragrance at light/med. trace
These need to be cut as soon as hard enough or will turn to bricks.
This recipe made 8, 5 oz. bars in a wooden box.
A fruity fragrance would be better, but I did not have any. Honey Almond smells sweet so it worked fine. Love these!
Can anyone suggest a cool name for these?
