Pine Needle (Scotch) Essential Oil usage rate?

Hi all,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

My friend has requested that I make him a batch of soap (CP; NaOH) with Pine EO. I found this Pine Needle (Scotch) Essential Oil Candora Soap but I'm struggling to figure out a usage rate. It's not showing up in EOCalc, as far as I can see. I've never used EOs; only FOs that tell you the usage rate.

I'm sorry if this seems like a basic/obvious thing to know, but I'm a little overwhelmed with the searches.

Modern Soapmaking lists usage rate as .4 ounce PPO (2.5%) and fir needle at .7 ounce PPO (4.38%). Personally, I prefer fir needle. https://www.modernsoapmaking.com/blog/essential-oil-usage-rates-ifra-guidelines

Based on my experience, fir needle smells more like what most people expect when they ask for pine.

The Aromaweb site doesn’t provide IFRA guidelines, but there’s usually enough information provided to allow an educated guess about general safety when an EO isn’t listed at EOCalc.

Add me to the fir-instead-of-pine EO group. Pine EO smells like Pinesol; fir EO smells like a walk in the woods.

And I'm another chorus member. In theory, Pine essential oil sounds like a good idea -- but it smells like Pinsesol disinfectant. Fir Needle essential oil is AWESOME! I would tell my friend that I have a great essential oil that smells like an evergreen forest and it's called Fir Needle.

I've been using fir needle and scotch pine EOs this winter for scenting my house (one at a time). I like 'em both, but I agree with the others -- the fir needle EO smells more like how a conifer forest smells on a sunny day.
