Does anyone test the PH of their lotions and creams? Just saw a video were that was suggested. Apparently, preservatives can cause lotions and creams to be acidic. The presenter's cream was less than 4 (tested with a meter) so she added a lye solution to bring it up to a little over 5 PH.

Just tested mine cream with a PH strip; it was around a 4. Not sure of the accuracy with strips.

Yes lotions and creams should be pH tested (a meter is far more accurate than strips).

Not only would you not want to put a pH 1 or pH 13 lotion on your skin their are other factors to consider.

Many preservatives only function correctly in a specified pH range. So to ensure your preservative is working to its full capacity then you need to check the pH is in the correct range.
