I need to boost the palmitic levels in my soap recipe but I don't want to use coconut butter or palm oil. I was thinking about using palmitic acid (vegetable sourced). Has anyone used this before? If yes, what was the outcome.

I would think vegetable sourced palmic is likely to come from palm oil originally so you are not avoiding the use of palm in your soap.

Any fatty acid is going to almost instantly saponify, so you are going to get alot of acceleration, so depending on the amount you probably would want to HP any recipe that uses a fatty acid. That is why most of us that have made shaving soap that uses stearic acid hot process it.
